4/2026 - ON BREAK FOR SPRING/SUMMER FESTIVAL SEASON, BE IN TOUCH FOR INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP LESSONS.
WORKSHOPS w/ Sara Tone @ Summer Gatherings (see Eco-Rhythms tab)
Our classes will explore the power of polyrhythm, and learning the basics of weaving rhythmic patterns together to make songs. I'll be sharing about the West African lineages of drum styles that I've been blessed to learn, while keeping Africa centered in the conversation. Also, ill share resources and references to my teachers, with more info for study on YouTube University.
There will also be opportunities to work with master level guest teacher including Mapathe Diop and Skijah Indigo. Details to be announced in class and on the socials.
In the series, each class will build upon the prior class, so the first class of the series will be the true INTRO class. Families and kids are more than welcome (ear protection highly encouraged for little ones!) We'll be working towards playing more complicated rhythms, but there are basic parts for all to play. This is a fun, encouraging, and welcoming learning environment!!
Weaving Roots Drum has a good collection of drums to be played, however, please bring your full size D'jembe or Conga drums if you have them. Also, it's encouraged to bring water, and a snack if you may need one.
Please be in touch with questions, comments, concerns.
