Eco-Rhythms of Watershed : navigating place as polyrhythmic song from the heart of Bioregion with Sara Tone

let us gather at the confluence of polyrhythm, sound, and song, where ecology and music swirl on the harmony of flowing waters, cascading on their return to sea. on a watercourse way we’ll dive deep into the heart of our ecoregion, where we see that rock has a song, deep with ancient pulses of geologic rhythm – melt, flow, lava and flood. acknowledging place by the waterways that emanate from our gathering location, where water connects us to rock and mountain. song and rhythm will be our vessel of collaborative presence, remembering and geolocating (hydrolocating?) ourselves in the here and now of the long song of what we call the Cascadia bioregion.

this offering swirls together song circle, drum workshop, ethics of ecology, diving into pools shaped by watersheds of geology, guided by enchanted wonder and gratitude, holding respect for the land where we stand, and those who have been loving and tending in deep relation for time immemorial. acknowledge that current culture lives in a way lacking grasp or reach in what it means to be living here, now while acknowledging the implications of the colonial/settler mindset and mainstream agenda that came from it.

willing hands and hearts learn to clap 2 over 3, 3 over 4, tap into the roots of music in 6, 8, 9 & 12!! feeling the foundation of what makes a waltz waltz in 3, or the push of so much good global music in 6, or the empowerment of rhythmic entrainment on the brain, synchronizing hemispheres, activating neurons, and strengthening the Corpus Callosum (the hemisphere brain bridge), strengthening connection to place, embodied in iron of our blood, pulsing our magnetic dance

with a strong quiver of original land based circle songs, we will sing out exploring melody and harmony with a polyrhythmic pulse, guided by geology, guided by waterway. singing our gratitude to the green forest, to the tall thick trees, for the INTACT OLD GROWTH, carbon sequestering mycelial mat, remembering the hydrology that keeps the land green in the baking hot summer. remembering and acknowledging the we are on the lands and banks of the same rivers and creeks that have fed indigenous people for eons, who in turn tended the good land in presence, remembrance and song for time immemorial, and to the many native folks that are very much STILL HERE, may this attempt at a long song of remembrance be a good blessing.

together in this organism of song we will remember the foundations of what it means to be human in this time. we will stretch and grow, singing our blessings, clapping and dancing in an untamable burst of coherence. may this be what feeds the heart of people, the land, the good water ways, for those who came before, and those yet to come…

acknowledging that current culture lives in a way lacking grasp or reach in what it means to be living here, now while acknowledging the implications of the colonial/settler mindset and mainstream agenda that comes from it.
truly a fine example of missed-fortune. ‘don’t even know what your missin'.

this is an organically emergent deeply human offering- growing, stretching, and learning in real time…

stay tuned for opportunities to go deeper with the unfurling watershed school <3
