Weaving Roots Drum is led by Portland based drummer, educator, and musician Sara Tone.  

This class offers a hands on opportunity to engage in pattern creation, how to hold a groove, embodied rhythm practices like feeling the pulse, and an intro to Polyrhythm: how to play more than 1 beat pattern at a time, weaving together a special drum song. 

Sara has been teaching youth and adults across the Portland Metro area for the past 2 decades. Including in-school programs with non-profits, summer camp programs,  in-home private group lessons. For the past few years, weekly community classes in inner PDX. And since 2019, she has been a main stay facilitator at the infamous NW Singer-Songwriter Soirée Retreat. 

Currently Sara Tone is working with a local nonprofit called Keys, Beat, Bars to bring music education and experience to incarcerated youth. Sara also is a substitute teacher in the Portland Metro area between music touring schedules. 

The drum class hosts are long time chosen family-friends, with their 2 kids helping hold the container. We're gonna have a lot of fun!!
