Portland based musician, educator, and ecologic advocate, Sara Tone has shared her love songs for the Earth as a multi-instrumentalist for nearly 2 decades. Expressing herself through powerful lyrics, a commanding and well tuned voice, a dynamic pushy guitar style, a unique approach on baritone uke, resounding kalimba, gratitude filled ocarina, and an assortment of percussion instruments. Her style ranges from a deep soul, rooted in a world-folk vibe, with an undeniable hip-hop influence. (Read: dorky choir kid with a strong ear taught herself lots of instruments to try to express and share the nature inspired symphony she hears and feels intensely). More than songs, there's an intention and vibe created and held, a collective power of presence and gratitude that emanates within the music.
After a few years of intense and important family care, Sara has started releasing her long awaited works including the “Trifecta of Sonic Balm” a 3 song EP thick with the potent harmonies of vocalists Ayla Réalta & Tonya Abernathy (link below). These songs, filled with dripping forest magic, will transport you, and are available on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms.
For Sara Tone, musical inspiration comes deeply and directly from nature. She has utilized her voice and lent her musical offerings as a strong advocate for many awareness and fundraising events including actions for intact forests, clean water and flowing watersheds, clean seeds, carbon sequestering and soil building, salmon restoration, free-roaming buffalo, and for We Are Mauna Kea, on Hawai’i Island.
She shared her words and songs for the Tall Tall Trees at the first ever TEDxLacamas Lake 2023 (Vancouver, WA), and has shared the stage with renowned authors, ritualists, and keynote speakers
Starhawk and Michael Meade for many seasons of the Beloved Festival in Oregon.
Sara Tone has been increasing her regional touring within the US West Coast, returning to Hawai'i, and expanding to NM for Unison Fest in September 2026. There's a very likely rumor about visiting Australia for music and magic in late 2026 as well.
Sara Tone's songwriting is known for being poignant to the times, ecologically well informed with unique perspective, while her performances are engaging and powerfully transformative. Many tears, smiles, and sighs of relief have been had, paired with a renewed sense of hope.
Enjoy the Music <3 In Gratitude
